Hosts Beau, Dean, and Tanner discuss this week’s cocktail The Super Ape. It is a island inspired drink created by Sean Kenyon, barman proprietor of Williams & Graham in Denver, CO.
Kenyon created the drink after listening to the album “Super Ape” from Lee Perry and The Upsetters. Once the guys got the recipe correct, they really enjoyed The Super Ape.
2 ounces Appleton Estate 12yr Rum
1/4 ounce Campari
3/4 ounce lime juice
2 ounces fresh pineapple
1/4 ounce Del Maguey Chichicapa (or similar smoky mezcal)
In a mixing tin, muddle banana. Add all other ingredients except Campari. Shake all ingredients with ice. Double strain into a Tiki mug or collins glass over crushed ice. Float Campari over top.
